About

Welcome, thanks for taking the time to get to know Uplift OT!

Uplift OT was founded in October 2023, with the aim to provide flexible OT support in the home, centred on championing lived experience and collaboration.

Hello! I’m Cresta, Occupational Therapist and owner of Uplift OT. I have several years of experience working in disability, health and mental health spaces, including private practice, research and community settings. I am passionate about championing the value of lived experience, collaboration and offering a health service where people feel seen, heard and understood. I am inherently curious and energised by learning new things and sharing ideas.

Outside of OT, some of my favourite things to do are cooking elaborate meals, spending time with friends and family, and getting up early each morning to get outside with my very energetic pooch.

What is Occupational Therapy?

In occupational therapy, the term ‘occupation’ refers to the things we do that occupy our time and bring meaning and purpose to life. The daily activities that we do as individuals, with others, and with community. The activities that we need to, want to and are expected to do.

The tenet of occupational therapy is that health and wellbeing can be fostered through participation in daily activities and engaging in meaningful occupations.

We understand that function is result of the interplay of personal, environmental and task-related aspects of the activity. Where problems arise, there is a mis-match between these factors, which impacts participation and/or performance..

The Uplift OT approach:

Values lived experience: You are the expert of your own lived experience, and we are committed to listening and working in collaboration with you.

Tailors to you: We recognise that each person has unique needs and circumstances. We take the time to understand your needs and adapt to suit you.

Focused on empowerment: Our goal is to help you understand your needs and implement strategies that work for you. There is no one way of being – we embrace diversity and different ways of living.

Doing therapy in your environment: We believe that in-home/ local community settings is the most effective way to deliver occupational therapy supports. Functioning is a combination of personal skills, the demands of the task, and the environment. Most of our interventions are focused on adapting the task or environment to suit your needs.
